Role Overview
As a Junior QA Engineer, you'll work with the QA team to test voting software on voting machines and on consumer-off-the-shelf (CoTS) hardware. We have many complex integrations to test. You’ll also write documentation – a lot of it: test cases, Confluence articles, and supporting documents for certification. This is NOT a remote position. Four days a week in the Nashua, NH office is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform manual testing on voting hardware and plan and write test cases in Jira's Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM).
- Communicate bugs, issues, enhancement requests, and complaints to the rest of the team and document them in Jira.
- Collaborate with other teams including Engineering, Design, Training, and Services.
- Perform CoTS hardware testing and configuration.
- Validate technical documentation to ensure conformance to system requirement specifications and applicable regulations.
- As part of a small team, creatively fill needs as they are identified.
- Be available for on-site or remote support to jurisdictions on Election Day.
Requirements
Qualified candidates will have demonstrated the following skills and experience, or the aptitude to develop them:
- 1–2 years of experience in manual testing.
- Able to work in-office 4 days per week (this role tests on physical hardware in the QA lab).
- Solid writing skills, including the ability to document test cases that will be used by third-party organizations.
- Fluent English communication (written and verbal).
- Experience writing manual test cases, bug reports, and how-to articles.
- Passion for finding bugs and tricky edge cases, a problem-solver's mentality, and a desire to take ownership of product quality.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Jira.
- Exposure to testing software within a hardware environment.
- Experience with Unix platforms, MySQL, and backend logs.
